Grassfish at the Digital Signage Summit Europe

This year both Grassfish and the Digital Signage Summit had a common reason to celebrate: their respective tenth anniversaries.

In light of the occasion, Grassfish naturally was part of Europe’s leading digital signage & DooH strategy conference again, which had its most successful year to date, thanks to more than 500 attendees, 40 excellent exhibitors and over 40 high-quality speakers. The event’s slogan “Challenging the Fundamentals of Consumer Engagement – Strategies for Tomorrow’s Advertising, Retail and Public Spaces“ encompassed two of the most important trends set to shape not only the digital signage industry in the coming years: IoT and Smart Cities.

Fitting the topic, Grassfish, as part of an Intel workshop, presented the project Orange Belgium, which detailed the transformation of 150 country-wide stores. Customer experience was the main focus, with regular stores being turned into an interactive, informative world of customer experience via screens, virtual shelves, electronic price tags, appropriate software and analytics features.

Together with NEC, Grassfish also presented an interactive installation at the DSS Europe, which revolved around the dynamic use of large, daylight-suitable screens in shopping windows. The installation was based on various sensors, which are all controlled via the leafengine platform and the Grassfish CMS. Content can be displayed or triggered in one of three different ways: standard content is being played in a regular way. If a customer approaches the screen up to 1,5 metres, the capacity proximity sensors recognize him and trigger a new content. In addition, there are tactile sensors, the pressing of which triggers yet a third content.

The highlight of the summit is always the presentation of the annual invidis Digital Signage Awards, which honour the top three companies of each of the five categories according to the invidis Digital Signage Ranking. Grassfish again was able to collect the top honour in the software category.

The main focus of the conference lies on panel discussions and speeches, the exhibitors’ area as well as networking. This year, the conference’s by now tenth issue is again taking place as a joint venture together with the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE).
