Content describing the building, company or maintenance work, as well as weather, news, or entertainment - the in the lift can be ideally used to convey these messages.
The Schindler MediaScreen, a 32" display, is clearly visible next to the COP (Cabin Operation Panel), which controls the lift. Deploying the user-friendly Grassfish CMS allows videos, weather, time or other relevant data to be displayed on the screen. Predefined playlists allow media events to be assigned to locations and have them displayed at the correct time.

An entertaining wait - the lift door as an infotainment surface
A new multifunctional Car Operation Panel combines lift controls with the floor display, with advertising and entertainment content, providing an elegant design for the lift cabin. The panel features three small displays with a highly customizable user interface. Floors, buttons and advertising content can be customized to match the CI of the building. The control panel supports touch- as well as gesture-controls. The content is easily imported via the Schindler Ahead platform.
The lift door as an infotainment surface
Schindler DoorShow is a spectacular innovation for displaying advertising and information while waiting for the lift.
The content is projected directly onto the lift door by means of ultra-short focus beamer. Compared to posters, which are often hidden and rarely noticed, the consumer's attention, which is usually directed towards the lift door, is piqued. Entertainment, inspiration and information, all enhance the quality and perception of Digital Out Of Home advertising.
The technical implementation of displaying a flat image on an uneven surface was a challenging, but extremely interesting task for the developers at Grassfish.
"It was particularly demanding to find a solution for the depth offset of the lift doors. We worked with "shaders" and grid representations to distort the beamer image so that it appears flat on the surface while the missing pixels are compensated for by a calculated blur." - Erwin Kandler - Senior Engineer at Grassfish.
Grassfish has developed player provisioning for Schindler to enable lift technicians to commission new equipment quickly and easily. Installation and calibration is done via a mobile application.
The Grassfish system automatically connects the player to the CMS, independent of location and timezone - worldwide.
Centralized creation, control and management of content
Using Grassfish DS Manager Pro, Schindler has a solution available under the name Ahead Platform, which enables the administration of content by employees at the corporate and national level, as well as by customers.
The extensive rights system of the Grassfish CMS enables the complex assignment of roles in a global context. Content and playlist creation, as well as playback rules are entered via the user-friendly interface of DS Manager Pro.
As part of Schindler's IoT strategy, all lifts are connected to the Internet. This enables remote monitoring, modification and maintenance of content.
A seamless customer journey in the lift
From the doorshow outside, to the SmartMirror and the smaller media screens inside, a seamless communication experience is generated. All digital displays are connected via DS Manager Pro and can thus be optimally coordinated. This makes it possible to coordinate multimedia advertising content across adjacent lifts.
An open, integration capable system
Due to the openness of the Grassfish system, additional sensors can be integrated and interfaced to ERP systems as well as to the central control unit of the lift. This opens up many possibilities for further developments and new applications.
